The Town of Vienna has been settled since the 1740s, was named Ayr Hill in 1767, and finally renamed Vienna in the 1850s. A minor Civil War engagement, known as the Battle of Vienna, occurred on June 17, 1861, along the rail line that is now known as the popular W&OD trail.
In 2013, Money magazine ranked Vienna #3 on its list of 100 best places to live in the US. Population is estimated at 16,000. Vienna is served by the Washington Metro’s Orange line, Metrobus, and the Fairfax Connector. Points of interest include Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, Tysons Corner, and Meadowlark Botanical Gardens.
